Avalanche hits Italian, Pakistani climbers in Ishkoman valley 6 Climbers rescued by Pakistan Army. Imtiaz Ahmed from Pakistan is still missing.
Six climbers are stranded on a peak in the Hindu Kush mountain range of Gilgit-Baltistan as an avalanche struck an Italian expedition team early Monday morning, diplomatic sources and tour operators said.
Six climbers (4 Italians + 2 Pakistani girls) heli-evacuated from around 5600m. One fatality (Imtiaz) and his body is still at the site of incident. The team was first airlifted in different sorties to the Base Camp before evacuating them to Gilgit. All six survivors have various degrees of injuries and all of them are currently at Gilgit CMH.
